to Camp GLOW Rwanda
Hey ya’ll
I was going through papers I have from last year’s camp and found some
more lessons learned from the debrief we did at the BE camp. I thought
I should share. I have written them in brief. If you have any
questions about the notes, please do not hesitate to call.
Lessons learned about scheduling:
•Campers requested more time for rest
•Need a scheduled time for a group photo
•Campers finished breakfast early (boys may not need as much time as
girls do in the morning). There was too much time between breakfast
and the beginning of lessons
Lessons learned about curriculum:
•Do not do dream journal with boys
•Do self-esteem lesson FIRST and goal setting LAST (?)
•Best Response game (from life skills manual) did not go over well
with boys
Lessons learned about lodging:
•Have more fruit at each meal
Lessons learned about sports:
•NEED a good playground area (big field nearby?)
•Buy good quality balls. Cheap ones will break
Lessons learned about activities:
•The more creative activities you have, the better
•If you do an English café, make sure to have discussion topics
•If you do career planning, it is best to have guest speakers u
