Take a look at the message below. I was thinking that we could submit
a story about Rwandas GLOW/BE project. Our story could discuss the
regional setup, the number of students and partners we reached, the
number of PCVs involved, each regions goals and individual objectives,
our sustainability plan through clubs, etc. Each region could write an
individual story about their camp and then one person could be
responsible creating a story that shares about the overall project by
combining the regional stories into one document. Its an idea. Let me
know if anyone is willing to take this on.
Thanks,
Kerianne

Kerianne, Nora and Mackenzie,
A couple of interesting notes below that I thought you all might be
interested in reading. Please note the call for PCV submissions about
projects and stories at the bottom. Feel free to share this
information and encourage your fellow PCVs (and why not yourselves?)
to consider putting something together to highlight your experiences
empowering local women and girls. Any and all submissions should be
sent to Mary.

Dear Country Directors, DPTs and WID/GAD Coordinators,
We are writing to announce the winners for the International Women's
Day Contest in the Africa region. This year's theme is: Connecting
Girls, Inspiring Futures[i]. We asked Posts to nominate an
organization or individual that they thought "inspires girls".
The WID/GAD Working Group rated the excellent submissions, and the
winners for the Africa region are:
Burkina Faso: PCV Sudakshina Chattopadhyay and Madame Solange
Sawadogo-Toé created a three-day conference in called "Our Future",
where the focus was on defining personal goals and included mentorship
components for young women.
Uganda: The Reusable Menstrual Pads (RUMPS) project focuses on
teaching girls and young women about menstrual health and hygiene,
keeping girls in school and easing the financial burden on families.
Rwanda: Teacher Jeanne Mukangenzi has served as a trainer for Camp
GLOW facilitators, in addition to facilitating both girls and boys
camps, as well as being an inspiring role model for young women and
young men in her community.
Stay tuned for more details on these exciting projects. The stories
and photos will be unveiled as part of our International Women's Day
celebrations at Headquarters.
Please remember to let us know what you're doing to celebrate
International Women's Day this year by sending in your stories and
photos! Timely stories and photos will be submitted to communications
to be featured. Guidelines for submissions to Communications can be
found below:
