Want straight-on view, not perspective.

All of the views on CAMotics (they are called "perspectives") are perspective views.  That is, they are from a single point in space.  For example, in the "top view", one sees the right side of the tool when the tool is on the left side of the workpiece, and the left side of the tool when the tool is on the right side of the workpiece.  I find this confusing, because it complicates understanding where the cutting _end_ of the tool is.  I would like a "straight down" view.  So in "top view", for example, one always sees the tool as a disk.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying.  

My "top view" shows the workpiece from the top, looking straight down.  Admittedly, the cutter is represented at a bit of an angle .. not just a disc.  But that's to show you the length of the cutter.  

Otherwise, "top view" seems to be a view from the top ...
