Key Responsibilities
System Design and Implementation: Design and deploy robust, scalable, and secure system architectures to meet organizational needs and performance goals. Configure and maintain servers, operating systems, and applications in a high-availability environment.
Infrastructure Management: Oversee the configuration, optimization, and management of servers, storage, and networking. Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance for servers and applications.
Security and Compliance: Implement and manage security measures to protect data and systems from unauthorized access or breaches. Ensure systems comply with relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies.
Backup and Recovery: Ensure regular backups are performed and establish effective disaster recovery procedures.
Automation: Develop and utilize automation tools and scripts to streamline operations, improve system management, and reduce manual effort.
Troubleshooting and Support: Provide advanced technical support to end-users and IT staff, resolving complex issues in a timely manner. Perform root cause analysis and resolve system issues effectively.
Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes.
Project Management: Lead and participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, migrations, and new implementations, ensuring they meet deadlines and quality standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, network engineers, and security specialists, to support overall IT initiatives.
Mentoring: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and system administrators, sharing expertise and best practices to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in systems engineering or system administration, with a proven track record in designing and managing complex systems and infrastructure.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in server operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong knowledge of network design, protocols, and security.
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining scripts to automate routine tasks.
Certifications: Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CompTIA Server+, or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) are preferred.
