Can anyone help me with this as i'm banging my head against the wall.
I'm trying to tie up my Canon 7D with my Canon 430EX II speedlite in
Hi-Speed shutter sync mode. If i've got the speedlite mounted on the
camera no problem , but if i'm trying to use the flash off camera, as
soon as i pop the onboard flash to trigger the speedlite the shutter
speed drops to 1/250 of a second . Anyone know how I can have a higher
shutter speed but using the speedlite off camera?

I am pretty sure the popup flash does not support high sync speed through wireless. You would need a 580 or possibly the commander.

If it works with the flash mounted to the camera, then you might need to buy a cable to go from the hot shoe to the flash. They come in different lengths up to 30ft. mount the flash on a triprod. I can not think of the name but they are not that expensive.
