Hi,

I recently tried installing Camelot on a colleague's computer (a Mac, OSx). It worked fine but we tried setting a separate dataset ("Dataset2") on an external drive and we had some storage issues.

I decided to keep a single dataset on their computer instead. I think we didn't choose the correct location for Database (we selected the Database folder itself - I saw your response after the fact, Chris https://groups.google.com/g/camelot-project/c/8g2IbTFylYY) and this caused Camelot to be extremely slow on startup. Therefore, I decided to "uninstall" Camelot and "re-install" it.
Since I couldn't find instructions to "uninstall" Camelot, I tried to delete all folders (in Library/Application Support/Camelot...). Even after I deleted all these folders, Dataset2 kept appearing in the list of datasets. So I guess I missed some files somewhere.

Is there a correct way to "uninstall" Camelot? Could instructions be added to the Documentation?

Cheers,
Yvan

PS: we are analyzing camera trap pictures at Black-capped petrel nesting sites in the Caribbean.

Hi Yvan,

That's a good suggestion & I've added a task for it here: https://gitlab.com/camelot-project/camelot/-/issues/220

As part of the next release, we're looking to make it much easier to manage datasets, including moving & deleting them, which should address this more thoroughly.

In the interim, deleting the content of Library/Application Support/Camelot should indeed remove Camelot's data.  Camelot also defines a configuration file under /Library/Preferences/camelot which is likely still referring to "Dataset 2" here.

In case it's useful, the data locations for Camelot are described here: https://camelot-project.readthedocs.io/en/latest/advanced_config.html

Hope that helps,

-Chris

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your message. That did it. Sorry for not looking further into the Advanced Configuration section.

Glad to hear you put a task in the queue. It's not that I want to get rid of Camelot but it's sometimes necessary to uninstall it, especially with new users.

Best,
Yvan
