quite understand for the type of different camellia tree:
Camellia oleifera,
Camellia japonica,
Camellia sinensis.
Not only the cusumer do not understand, even some businessman, company
who supply related products do not understand it.
Here I just want to discuss with friends for the different of those
three kind of camellia oil. I can not say what I said is extremetly
correct.
Camellia oleifera, Camellia japonica and Camellia sinensis are all
belong to theaceae,the camellia family. The formal English name is
Camellia oleifera---Oil Camellia
Camellia japonica---Japan Camellia
Camellia sinensis---Tea
>From their English name, we can know something about them. Camellia
oleifera is a kind of oil plant, its seed is with rich oil content
about 35-40%.The diamater for the seed is about 3-5cm. It is widely
cultivated in drainage area of Yangtse Rive in China, just like West of
Zhejiang province, Jiangxi province and Hunan province.The seed is only
for extracting camellia seed oil for cooking, cosmetics and lubricate.
And the residua can be used as organic fertilize for shrimp pond, golf
course and rice field. The seed and flower are all from September to
November, only in white color.
Camellia Japonica is a kind of ornamental for its beautiful flowers.
Its seed can also be used for exacting oil with about 35-40% oil
content.Diameter of the seed is 2-3cm. The flower is from April to May,
while the seed grows from September to November.Such camellia tree
firstly cultivated in China and Japan, but in recent years, it is
famous in Japan market.Almost all Japanese camellia oil is from such
kind of camellia tree.
Camellia sinensis is a kind of tea tree. Some one call it as green tea.
The mostly use is its leaf for Chinese tea.It is widely cualtivate in
South China. The tree is lower than camellia Oleifera and camellia
japonica. Usually we call it as frutex instead of tree. The diameter of
the seed is about 2-3cm.Soldem people use its seed to extract the oil
for techonology and other limitation.
In China, someone call camellia oil as tea seed oil, actually the
correct name should be camellia oleifera seed oil. If you find
somewhere in China write greed tea seed oil, mostly problem its
camellia oleifera seed oil instead of camellia sinensis seed oil.
Though green tea seed oil is the correct name for camellia sinensis
seed oil.
