This message describes unpacking archive files by hand. It will work,
but it would take a while to download and install all of the files.
You would also need a copy of the lzma.exe binary to do this.

This would work, but only if you have a webserver running on your
Vista machine, and the webserver could see your /path/to/your/files
directory.

These won't work. The only protocol that the installer currently
supports for downloading files is HTTP, i.e. a webserver. Doesn't
Vista have some kind of personal webserver you can download from
Microsoft, or maybe a free webserver you can download and install.
I'd like to be able to tell the installer to use files on a local hard
drive, but it's pretty low on the priorty list.
Does that answer your question?
Thanks,
