The Call for Contributions to CAMDA 2024 is already  open!

CAMDA is a full conference track at ISMB (www.camda.info).

Researchers world-wide take the CAMDA Challenge (contest.camda.info) - compete with the best in an open-ended data analysis contest and bring home the Camda Trophy!

This year, recognizing the recent events, the scientific committee of CAMDA has set the following data analysis contest challenges:

  • The Synthetic Clinical Health Records Challenge provides a rich set of highly realistic Electronic Health Records (EHR) tracing the diagnosis trajectories of diabetic patients, created with dual-adversarial auto-encoders trained on data from 1.2 million real patients in the Population Health Database of the Andalusian Ministry of Health. Predict relevant diabetes endpoints like blindness or cardiopathy from past diagnosis trajectories!
  • The Anti-Microbial Resistance Prediction Challenge features clinical isolates sequences. Predict resistance genes/markers and identify resistant bacteria!
  • The Gut Microbiome based Health Index Challenge features hundreds of WMS based taxonomic and functional profiles of healthy and unhealthy individuals. Take advantage of the Theater of Activity concept and compete already existing taxonomy based metrics!

Join us for a stimulating scientific meeting and lively discussions on 15-16 July 2024 (in-person or virtualy)!

The Best Presentation is awarded the prestigious Camda Trophy. Fully indexed Proceedings in Frontiers in Genetics. Travel fellowships available!

Extended abstract submission deadline 20 May.

Background

CAMDA was founded in 2000 (Nature 411, 885. Nature 424, 610) to provide a forum for the critical assessment of different techniques used in large-scale data analysis in the life-sciences, including but not limited to high-dimensional gene expression profiling. It aims to establish the state-of-the-art in analysis methods for Big Data in the Life Sciences, as well as identify progress and highlight promising directions for future efforts. To this end, CAMDA adopted the approach of a community-wide contest, with the scientific community analysing the same data sets. Researchers worldwide are invited to take the CAMDA challenge, which has become a prominent fixture (cfNature Methods 5, 569. Nature Communications 10, 1393 ).

Selected contributions are presented through talks and posters. Results and methods of the different analyses are discussed and compared at the conference, with delegates voting for the best presentations. Extended papers are published in a special issue of Frontiers in Genetics (fully indexed and open access). Methods papers are eligible for the regular ISMB proceedings track in Bioinformatics.

Keynotes by leading researchers in the field provide further focus points for discussion at the meeting.

Submit your best research to CAMDA!

Extended abstracts of late breaking methods research or analyses of the CAMDA challenge data sets can be submitted by the CAMDA submission deadline 20 May. Extended abstracts should include at least preliminary key results and figures. Based on the extended abstract, the scientific committee selects teams to present their work at the CAMDA conference, where updated results need to be shown.

      Dear Camda community,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my team's keen interest in participating in the forthcoming Anti-Microbial Resistance Prediction challenge. As we are currently engaged in research concerning antimicrobial resistance with other bacterial species, we see this challenge as an excellent opportunity to rigorously test and refine our methodology. In preparation for our involvement, we would greatly appreciate your assistance with the following inquiries:
Could you kindly provide us with details regarding the ending date of the challenge? Understanding the timeline would enable us to align our preparations effectively and ensure our participation is maximally beneficial.
      1. Given that participants will have access to a training dataset sourced from public databases, could you please provide guidance on the application process for accessing this data? We are very enthusiastic to commence our preparations and would greatly value any instructions or links you could provide.
      2. We are deeply committed to contributing meaningfully to the advancement of antimicrobial resistance prediction and are enthusiastic about the prospect of participating in this challenge. Your support in providing the requested information would be immensely valuable to our team's preparations.
Thank you for your consideration of our request. We look forward to your response and the opportunity to contribute to this exciting initiative.

      Kind regards,
      Nikolay Simankov
