Hello Tunde/Esteemed Colleagues,
My 2 kobo.
I would propose that we get a consultant. An agency that can draw up a marketing plan/strategy for the entire industry using CAMCONIA as a driver. There will be long term goals and short term goals. The long term goals can be reviewed periodically and refined for the better. That way future committee members have a base line to start from. This document that was attached is not (in my opinion) shooting at anything in particular. It is speaking generally about a need for improving the industry image but no clear strategy as to achievement. We must create a strategy and be ready to pay for it.
Let us for instance be the first sitting committee that takes the NIA firmly online. The NIA for instance is not on Facebook neither are we on Twitter. We're not on LinkedIn. We should first be on these 3 platforms. We can take it from there. We can put the NIA on the digital map. What does the NIA website look like? How can it be better? Perhaps if the NIA leads the way with online presence, we can encourage other companies to follow suit.
What is the international standard of Insurers Associations? what are they doing in the UK, the US, Canada even? We may not be regulators but we can drive change.
We can cause the NIA to become a thought-leader in Insurance. Who says we cannot create a compare platform? where people can come to compare quotes online on the NIA website? We get the DG to mandate everyone to subscribe to the platform i.e. submit their online links so that we drive traffic there. of course we advertise for insurance as well. Why can we not have industry statistics the following year after publication? Why is the latest Industry stats for 2013 or 14? 2 years ago minimum. Thats terrible for our reputation.
Once we have a marketing plan, we can attach figures to it and make a proposal to the DG for all insurance companies to pitch in and share costs. Draw out a one year budget with milestones and make it so that payments are made on a quarterly basis.
There are several companies that can do this for us at a very reasonable charge. We just need to be on board with this and get a move on.
Regards,
Bunmi Adeleye
