Hello guys..

I actively and shamelessly advocate Cambridge Template Engine on Play Framework as and when I get an opportunity.
Coz I believe this tool is really great solution.

Here are some of the  queries / bad things I observed elsewhere from time to time.
  • Lack of documentation ( or not being on par  )
  • Not being on GitHub, that place really helps propel the adoption ( look at SienaProject by pascal he got several active supporters in a matter of few months possibly coz GitHub )
  • It is only meant for markup , what about generic template support ? etc.
  • Performance comparisons to compiled counterparts.
  • Is it in *active* development ?? !!
  • @@ Notation of Play ! for static pages.. etc...
  • A plugin for Play ?
  • Roadmap ?? !!!
Special thanks to Cambridge author Erdinc Yilmazel and Jon Stevens who is actively participating in the improvements of Cambridge.

PS : I am not a great java developer and I can't contribute in code maintenance but I try to understand from a user perspective and hence I support Cambridge by spreading a word wherever possible.

Trust me, this is my highest priority. I just couldn't devote enough time on it so far, but I am going to setup a nice website with good documentation

  • Not being on GitHub, that place really helps propel the adoption ( look at SienaProject by pascal he got several active supporters in a matter of few months possibly coz GitHub )
This is also planned.
  • It is only meant for markup , what about generic template support ? etc.
Please give some examples about what you mean by generic template support? You mean generating plain text? This is already possible, you just need to make your tags hidden.

<anyTag a:hide if="someExpression">Your text here</anyTag>

or

<a:span if="someExpression">Your text here</a:span>

  • Performance comparisons to compiled counterparts.
There are already some comparisons on my blog and on the google project page wiki. I will put all these to the website.

  • Is it in *active* development ?? !!
Of course, it is in active use and development.
  • @@ Notation of Play ! for static pages.. etc...
Play support isn't my highest priority, but if Play users become the biggest crowd in Cambridge users, then I will make it my top priority. I am waiting for contributions/ideas from people in Play community. I don't use play in my daily projects, so I don't really know what is lacking.
