Do you know your options for software licensing? Have you heard of new funders’ requirements for software sharing? This workshop is your chance to get expert advice on these and other questions about software licensing. Our speakers includeNeil Chue Hong, the Director, and Shoaib Sufi, the Community Leader from the Software Sustainability Institute.

The event is open to everyone and you are welcome to bring your questions to the workshop – there will lots of opportunities to discuss your queries at the sessions and during the dedicated networking lunch.

The workshop is also an excellent opportunity for the community to get together.

11.00 – 12.00 – How to choose a licence for your software?

  • Is Open Science against commercialisation of software?

12.15 – 13.15 – How does software licensing fit into the RCUK expectations on research data sharing?

  • RCUK expectations for software sharing
  • Is software commercialisation allowed in RCUK policy?  
  • Software/data sharing examples in EPSRC policy

13.15 – 15.00 – Pizza lunch and networking

  • Feel free to stay and discuss your questions in more details, and to network with colleagues from your field
