The weather will be excellent for insects in the mountains this weekend.
Friday night’s presentations will be followed by setting up a sheet
next to Joe Dodge Lodge in Pinkham Notch! Ideally, we can meet and make
plans Friday night while we learn about the local insect biodiversity!
Saturday and Sunday’s outings have yet to be determined.
Friday night's talk with Don Chandler will be at the Joe Dodge Lodge/Pinkham Notch Visitor Center at 8pm.
Directions: From Rt. 16, follow signs to Wildcat Mtn. Ski area. Pinkham Notch Visitor Center and Joe Dodge Lodge are about 3/4 mi. south of the ski area. Look for a sign, "Pinkham Notch Visitor Center". Google maps should get you there searching "Pinkham Notch Visitor Center".
For anyone who is committed to participate in this weekend’s
presentations, outings and explorations, please email or text Scott
Smyers,
sdsm...@gmail.com/978-314-6027. Scott will send you a link to a
googlesheet where we can share contact information and priorities for
searching for insects each day and night.
We can also make sure to match
people with experience hiking in the White Mountains with those less
experienced to make sure everyone is prepared to minimize risk and
maximize enjoyment. However, there are many places that do not require
extensive backcountry experience that can be accessed by driving and
less strenuous hikes in the Mount Washington area.
