Date: July 26 @2 PM EST
Location: In Person in MCZ101A
Instructor: Stef Linden
Background:
This month, Stef Linden will be leading a workshop on insect pinning. If you have ever wanted to start your own insect collection , now is the time to learn! All levels welcome, Supplies and supplies will be provided. However, you are encouraged to bring your own specimens. We will all learn more and have a more exciting workshop if a greater variety of species are available! For those who have not collected before: best practice for pinning is to freeze your insects as soon as possible after they die and leave them there for as long as you can. Stef recommends euthanizing them in the freezer as a more humane method. Please collect responsibly and safely, especially avoiding targeting endangered species. Also, if you own forceps or come across styrofoam board, please bring that along too.
For those able to attend, we will have an informal lunch at 12:30 pm at Nirvana (1680 Massachusetts Ave), followed by our workshop (2 - 3:30 pm) in room MCZ101A of the Museum of Comparative Zoology.
