Dear Madam or Sir,

On behalf of the Young Initiative on Foreign Affairs and International Relations (IFAIR) –  a Berlin-based think tank for international relations – I would like to call your attention to the 2nd Interregional EU–ASEAN Perspectives Dialogue, taking place from between 14 and 28 March 2015. The EU–ASEAN Perspectives is a project promoting cooperation between young international relations researchers and practitioners from Europe and Southeast Asia. The project is run by young people and for young people from the two regions.

The inaugural EU–ASEAN Perspectives in 2013 was a resounding success –  it created a community of young researchers from Europe and Southeast Asia, and generated a stimulating discussion which resulted in the policy paper "Unlocking the Potential of Interregionalism" (see  http://ifair.eu/en/act/impact-group-eu-asean-perspectives/). This edition of the IFAIR project is titled “Building global partnerships – Which role for the EU and ASEAN?”. The debate will focus on the question how the EU and ASEAN can cooperate on issues of importance on the global governance agenda. It will consist of online workshops (March 2015) and a live event in a European capital (June 2015). You can find more information in the attached Call for Applications (CfA) and on the project webpage: http://ifair.eu/en/eu-asean-perspectives-dialogues/

The event is supported by a range of high-profile researchers, practitioners and organizations from Europe and Southeast Asia. It is under the patronage of Mr. Ranieri Sabatucci, Head of Asia and Pacific Department of the European External Action Service, European Commission and Prof. Tanja Börzel, Jean Monnet Chair and Director of the Centre for European Integration, Free University Berlin.

As the EU Delegation in Indonesia, in charge of the Uni Eropa Journal, promotes intellectual exchange between Europe and Southeast Asia, I think that your readers/members will be interested to learn about the EU-ASEAN Perspectives II. I would therefore be grateful if you could support IFAIR and our project by disseminating the attached CfA to anyone who might want to apply for participation in the Dialogue. Please feel free to forward the document or a link to the project website to your personal contacts and any mailing list with a focus related to the topic of the conference. You may also make the information about the Dialogue public on your organization’s website and social media platforms (e.g. Facebook).

Thank you very much for your support. I am happy to answer any further questions about the project.

Kind regards,

Nelly Stratieva, LL.M.
