As someone who's never had an Alienware, I'm considering a new Alienware 15 and want to make sure I can turn off ALL lights as needed, including the lighted logo, the keyboard, the side lightbars, everything. Completely dark except for the screen itself.

The following: Anyone ever had this problem that their keyboard headlights get turned off after loading windows? It seems something isn't loading properly within alienware Command Center after its done 'starting up'. When I then after, manually launch AWCC (it doesn't launch the AWCC window though, have to start it -again-), the keyboard backlights turn on (as it seems to load FX).

Hi! Almost everything is in the title (I don't like RGB and I want to save battery). Also, if I manage to disable the lights, will it persist across reboots? I'm planning to use it mainly on Linux, but I have access to some Windows machine to do the initial setup. Finally, if you have any general feedback on this product I will gladly take them. Thanks!

My new M15R6 laptop keyboard doesn't dim after certain amount of time. Meaning I need to watch the movie with keyboard leds on. Tried to Google - says the keyboard lights dim time has control in BIOS for M15R5 - my BIOS doesn't have this option. All the updates installed.

I have already tried the two (I do not if is right call them software) pyalienware and alienwarekbl. However neither one or those work (perhaps I am doing something wrong). I can install them, but when I click on the icon to run the app it does not works. If there is other way to turn off the lights this would be great.

This is driving me nuts - I can't find a way to disable Civ VI from turning on all lights on my 17 R5. It's a real drag that I can't surreptitiously play a CIV game without my laptop looking like the Las Vegas Strip.

I'm using the latest version of the control center, which unfortunately seems to have dropped the ability to turn off auto lighting by games that support it. I tried assigning a dark profile to Civ VI but the game trigger seems to override. Even worse after playing Civ the lights get stuck on in that pattern and can't be changed in the Command Center until reboot.

Hi Everyone I've got my R10 with RTX 3070 for a week and it's been running fine, but I couldn't find a way to turn the GPU light off. I can see the "GEFORCE" LED glow inside through the left panel. I used AWCC to turn the case light off, but it doesn't control the GPU. I also looked into Geforce Experience/EVGA Precision X1 and didn't find any working LED control options. Is it even possible to turn it off?

In the dark, nighttime users can now rely on their laptops to power on. If you have a backlit keyboard on an HP notebook computer, look for the F5 button at the top of the keyboard. By performing the same simultaneous Fn and F11 operations, you can practice turning on the backlight keyboard light. There are frequently funky backlights on gaming laptops that are tailored to the needs of any competitor. zoned backlit HP OMEN laptops allow users to change the backlight colors on the keys and keyboard zones based on their preferences. It takes more than just installing a backlit keyboard to make it work properly. The HP ZBook 15V G5 mobile workstation is among the best mobile workstations on the market in terms of performance and durability.

To turn on the keyboard light on a Dell laptop, first make sure that the computer is turned on. Then locate the keyboard light button on the keyboard. It is typically located on the top row of keys, to the right of the F1-F12 keys. Press and hold the keyboard light button for three seconds. The keyboard light should now be turned on.

Are you having trouble seeing your keyboard in dim lighting? Several Dell laptops are equipped with a backlit keyboard, an attractive addition that makes your keyboard easier to see in dark or poorly lit spaces. This wikiHow article will help you discover whether or not your Dell computer has a keyboard light, and then teach you how to turn it on.

Fx lights are a bunch of background LED lights that have been built into the keyboard on the Alienware system. It is an attractive option that creates ambient effects that enhance gaming and make streaming beautiful.

If the lights on your laptop or computer are still on, but they are dimmed, this could be an issue with the system settings. This is a straightforward setting to change, and sometimes people will do it without even knowing what they are doing.
To fix this problem:

The good news about Alienware Fx is that it is extremely rare for the lights to stop working under everyday usage. Unless your laptop has been dropped or traumatized somehow, it is rare for the lights to stop working. It is possible in older models, but it is usually not the first thing to go wrong.

If your keyboard lights up, but there is no display, then that means that the system is getting powered up, but the GPU might having problems, your internal disk drive is corrupted or damaged, your display is damaged, or LVDS cable might be loose (This cable hooks your motherboard to your display).

The Dell AW3423DWF is remarkable for media consumption. It looks best in dark rooms because it displays deep blacks without blooming, but it looks worse in bright rooms as ambient light causes the black levels to raise. Its ultrawide screen is great for watching movies, and it displays a wide range of colors with okay HDR peak brightness, so colors are vivid and smaller highlights pop.

The Dell AW3423DWF is exceptional with HDR. It displays deep blacks in dark rooms thanks to its near-infinite contrast ratio, and there isn't any blooming around bright objects either. Its QD-OLED panel also displays a wide range of colors, making them bright and vivid. However, its HDR peak brightness is limited, so some larger highlights don't pop as they should.

The Dell Alienware AW3423DWF and the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM are different types of OLED displays. The Dell is an ultrawide monitor with a larger screen, and it uses extra quantum dot technology to display a wider range of colors that are brighter and more vivid than on the ASUS. However, the ASUS still gets brighter, so small highlights pop more. The ASUS also has a higher 240Hz refresh rate, which makes it ideal for competitive gamers.

The Dell Alienware AW3423DWF and the LG 27GR95QE-B are both 1440p OLED gaming monitors with a few differences. The Dell has an ultrawide screen for a more immersive gaming experience, and its QD-OLED panel also delivers better picture quality with brighter highlights and more vivid colors. However, the LG has a higher 240Hz refresh rate, which is great if you're a competitive gamer, and it supports 4k @ 120Hz gaming from consoles. Lastly, the LG doesn't have the same raised black level issue in bright rooms as the Dell, meaning blacks are still deep and inky when viewed in well-lit rooms.

The Dell AW3423DWF has an OLED panel with a near-infinite contrast ratio. It means that it displays perfect blacks next to bright highlights. However, it looks best in a dark room because the black levels raise in a bright room, causing blacks to look purple/pink when there's any ambient light on the screen.

The Dell AW3423DWF has okay SDR peak brightness. It doesn't get bright enough to fight a ton of glare, but because of its fantastic reflection handling, you won't see distracting glare with a few lights around, either. It maintains its brightness consistent across different scenes in SDR, which is good as there isn't any noticeable changes in screen brightness. These results are from after calibration in the 'Custom Color' Preset Mode with the Brightness at its max.

The Dell AW3423DWF has okay HDR brightness. These results are in the 'HDR Peak 1000' Smart HDR mode with Console Mode and Source Tone Map both enabled. While some small highlights are around 1,000 cd/m, the overall real scene peak brightness is worse than the Dell Alienware AW3423DW.

These results are with firmware M3B104, released in June 2023. It makes the image a bit brighter, but the main difference is that the EOTF tracks closer to the target PQ curve, meaning it displays images at their intended brightness. Before the update, the EOTF was brighter than the target. The firmware update also fixes the bug that caused colors to look washed out with Source Tone Map and Console Mode both disabled on previous firmware, as it performs nearly the same with those settings off with firmware M3B104. However, the EOTF is slightly different with both settings disabled, as there's a slower roll-off at the peak brightness, meaning it's tone mapping before the source does, causing highlights to be too dim.

Also, depending on your computer model, your PC may be configured to control the backlit keyboard via the F9 or F11 button rather than the F5 button. Practice the same simultaneous Fn + F11 operation to turn on a backlight keyboard light.

Once morning hits and the natural sunshine illuminates your keyboard, you may find you have no need for the keyboard light to be on. In order to turn off the backlight on your laptop keyboard, press the same corresponding keys that allowed you to turn them on.

Here, you can configure when Night Shift automatically runs, turn it on until the next sunrise, and set your preferred color temperature. For scheduling, you can let macOS turn it on and off at sunset and sunrise based on your location, or you can set a custom schedule.

Playing HDR content while running your laptop on battery can reduce battery life. Therefore, your PC manufacturer might have turned HDR off by default for when you're running on battery. You can change the default power setting if you want.
