Greetings Jordan,
With last weekend's USGP of Cyclocross Finals behind us, the 2011 Oregon bike race season has officially come to an end. I hope that it was a fun and rewarding year for you and that - like many of us - you're already looking forward to next season!
To help you with the planning of your upcoming race season (nothing bad with some lofty New Year's resolutions!), I want to pass you along the dates and locations for all 2012 Portland Racing events:
Kruger's Kermesse Spring Relay (NEW 2-person relay race!): Sunday, May 6 - Kruger's Farm, Sauvie Island.
Portland Short Track Series: Mondays June 4 to June 25, and July 9 to July 30, Portland Int'l Raceway.
Oregon Short Track XC State Championship: Saturday, June 30 - Skibowl, Government Camp.
Six Hours of Mount Hood MTB Relay: Sunday, July 1 - Skibowl, Government Camp.
Kruger's Kermesse Farm Crit: Sunday, August 26 - Kruger's Farm, Sauvie Island.
Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic: Sunday, November 18 - Kruger's Farm, Sauvie Island.
On another note, I like to give you a heads-up that I have three spots left for the second edition of the Flanders-Roubaix Belgian Classics Bike Tour I am organizing next spring (first two weeks of April).
It's a 12-day, fully-catered trip that includes watching 3 major spring classsics (Tour of Flanders, Scheldeprijs and Paris-Roubaix), a bunch of great rides around Flanders (and into the north of France and the Netherlands), and more cobblestone riding than you could ever wish for, including all the cobblestone climbs of the Tour of Flanders, the Kemmelberg (from Gent-Wevelgem fame), and the last 100K of Paris-Roubaix (with a victory lap inside the giant velodrome).
Besides some awesome riding and live bike race spectating, you will get a unique chance to discover Belgium's rich culture, history, cities, gastronomy, and beer (oh, yeah!), all in the good company of locals, including my brother Jan (who will be our local bike guide).
Anyway, if you are interested in joining a fun group of spring classics aficionados (all of them fellow OBRA racers), just shoot me an email and I'll send you a PDF brochure that has all the details and a ton of photos from the first edition (earlier this year) that will make you salivate.
Wishing you Happy Holidays and a well-deserved break from bike racing. Until next year... at the races!
Cheers,
~Kris
