There's an 'Ubuntu NGO' group forming from inside the Ubuntu community.
I'm not 100% sure what the goals are or what can/could be achieved. I
think it's to help make it easier for NGOs to use Ubuntu. There's a wiki

The first IRC meeting will be on this Friday at 4pm, on the IRC channel
#ubuntu-ngo. You can go to this page http://webchat.freenode.net/, put
in #ubuntu-ngo and a nickname and be connected to the channel.
