Have decided I'd like to be able to see out of my Velux roof windows...

- any recommendations for people who come out and repair/demist/reseal
such windows?

I've phoned a couple of places in Yellow Pages under Double Glazing
Repairs but they both want to do replacement windows. If it comes to
that sort of expense, we can do that ourselves.

www.velux.co.uk have useful support pages, and offer to come and fix
this problem for you with new glazing units.

According to Graham Hayles (Widnow options 01223 353140),
who specialises in repairing double glazing, there's no way
of doing that without destroying the panel, so you have to
replace the glass. I can recommend him, though it's quite
hard to end conversations with him...

Having delivered 3 sheets of coach window double glazing which were misted
up to a firm in Burton-on-Trent in the Summer, they then de-misted and
resealed it all for us - it took a couple of days and IIRC wasn't all that
cheap, but quite a lot cheaper than replacing the whole unit. This
particular firm were a coach glass specialist (JW Glass in Hatton, Derbys.),
but I'm sure that someone would do similar for normal windows.

I phoned Velux this morning. They said I should phone them back with
the serial numbers on the windows. They will then tell me the cost and
if I agree, send out replacement glazing units for us to fit ourselves
(which is what we'll do) or if we prefer, they can also send out a
person to fit them for us.

So problem solved.

Thanks!
