Any (dis)recommendations for a hairdresser in Cambridge ? I could do with
a trim in time for graduation on Saturday.

I've had good haircuts from the Wacky Hair Co on Milton Rd, not cheap
though. The one with the yellow awning on Histon Rd opposite-ish the
Tandoori Palace is much cheaper and also seems good. I dunno really
what to look for disrecommendations I'm afraid though.
I very much tend to just say "short" or "this sort of length" and then
give them free rein and see what comes out, which might not be what
you're looking for.

Yes, me too[1]. I've never had any problem with the little local one
just round the corner from us (in my case this is Hair 2000 on
Newmarket Road, but that's probably too far for you to bother with).
Is there a local one near you?
A long time ago I used to use Ginger & Tye on Hill's Road (just down
from Station Road, don't think they're still there) as it was
convenient from work. It was way more expensive and I'm not convinced
it was any better.

[1] Actually, one time I took a picture along with me and said "like
this" and they did. But I almost always just say "a couple of inches
off" or "down to my jaw line" or whatever.

"Bother," said Pooh, "Eeyore, ready two photon torpedoes and lock
phasers on the Heffalump. Piglet, meet me in transporter room
three. Christopher Robin, you have the bridge."
IIRC Paula uses one along Victoria Road somewhere. They seem adequately
competent. IMHO.

Ah, I'd been intending trying out a few different hairstyles using
flashface (http://flashface.flashmaster.ru) and then, if any of them
appealed, printing that picture out and asking them to try to make
my hair look like that ;-)
But I'm not convinced that any of the hairstyles they have available
there (apart from my current one, a straggly grown-out buzzcut !)
actually suit me.
I get my buzzcut done at a barber's shop. Either one, whose name I
don't know in Ely, or Mr Polito's in Cambridge.
They can usually cope with the fact I'm a woman, and th eone in Ely did
me a nice grade 3 just before I went off to Egypt.

I've been very happy with Jo and Andy, formerly of the Cutting Club next to
the Tram Depot, now upstairs in Reza hairdressers on East Road. I go to Jo
when I have long hair and want it styling for an occassion or trimming and I
go to Andy when I want a new, shorter style. They do a student discount.
Mal also does brilliant hair straightening.

I can think of at least 3 hairdressers on Victoria Road!

Design a system any fool can use, and only a fool will want to use it.
David Bidwell at Robert Sewell in James Street, that is the same street as
The Zebra, off Newmarket Road, good chap tell him Steve sent you. He his a
really good chap. Regards Steve.
I think she is looking for a recommendation.
Anyway, what do *you* know about hairdressers, unless you have
changed since I last worked with you.

Yes, and I was pointing out that recommending "one along Victoria Road
somewhere" is insufficiently precise.

Hey, I resemble that remark. My hair is much shorter now, thank you,
and since I used to live off Victoria Road I'm fairly familiar with
the shops along it.
I had a *grim* cut from Scruffs on Mill Road, done by the only homophobic
hairdresser I've ever met. Have never gone back though everyone raves
about it. Great cuts from Sarah-Jane (?) and Sonia at Toni&Guy though,
but expensive!!
Can second both of those, Sonia is good. My haircut at Scruffs was my own
fault though...I volunteered to be a model for one of their haircutting
courses. Even if you are short of money that's no thing to do one month
before your wedding.
