I had a burst pipe a while ago and have a small bit of water damage, small
hole in the ceiling etc. It doesn't need a full blown builder, but I could
do with a handyman who could cut out a bit of plaster and repair, repair the
ceiling, put up a picture rail and maybe even dab on a bit of paint when
it's all done. I can't find any recommendations in the FAQ, do such people
exist?

Once you've bought the plasterboard from BandQ and got some plaster
board nails and a stanley knife, it's as easy as standing on a chair
and cutting and nailing it into place.

Polyfilla in the gaps and cracks, then sand and paint.

I'd start by asking a trusted neighbour if they fancy earning a few
quid one Saturday.

Hi Christian

I use Rob Trundley - he can turn his hand to most things and what he
can't do he will get someone in to work with.

You can get him on 07791 5926512 or 01223 696887

Kind regards

Lesley

I stumbled across this:

http://www.wellsolved.co.uk/index.html

website a while back. Sounds like he does the sort of things you're after,
though I should add I've never used him.

Darren Markham aka Dentec Services, only phone number I have is 07734
296531, but that is a few years old. Email dentec at ntlworld dot com.

NTL used to use him to sort things out when their "engineers" made a
mess (e.g. drilling a hole too low and pushing the skirting board & some
plaster off on the other side of the wall in our house). He also helped
me out with rearranging some antiquated plumbing & kitchen cabinets when
we first had a dishwasher. He seems to work about 22 hours a day, so be
prepared to wait in for him, but he does a brilliant job and his charges
are reasonable.

There is a + and a - for Petros Handyman under builders in the FAQ.

Having said all that, it sounds like a job that a man of your calibre
should be able to tackle.
