I've been playing GW Tron online for awhile now. I like the deck, but (like a lot of decks probably), it has some bad match ups. Mostly fast, aggressive decks like burn, GW humans, and GR zoo plus some disruptive decks like BW prison/Eldrazi flicker.

I don't like UW Tron because it isn't nearly as consistent at hitting Tron. Similarly for Eldrazi Tron. So, I'd like to keep the green for Sylvan Scrying. The Paths (main reason for white) have seemed mediocre to me.

I could try GR, but then it occurred to me, why not look at GU Tron or GB Tron? I think I've heard of a GB Tron list and I'll look for one later, but I don't think I've ever heard of UG Tron.

So, what I'm looking for are ideas for cards that might be good in a GU list (or GB). Thanks for any ideas that you might have!

One thing to keep in mind in that double colored mana costs are usually problematic for Tron.

Look, I don't know anything about Modern. When I saw the title of this email I felt a moment of panic that it was directly solely at me.

At the risk of topic hijacking, here's the real deck you should be working on. It falls into the time-honored category of Hummel value artifacts: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/mtgo-standings/standard-ptq-2017-07-22

The first place deck you mean? Meh. I don't know how you can play an artifact deck in standard and not have Padeem in it. The Refurbish does remind me of a deck that I had been meaning to put together though - Cathartic Reunions, all of the big artifact creatures, Refurbish, and Liliana to make an artifact reanimator deck. God-Pharaoh's Gift is an interesting idea for that deck. Refurbish Combustible Gearhulk, reanimate Combustible Gearhulk with Liliana, then target Combustible Gearhulk with God-Pharaoh's Gift... at some point they have to let you draw three cards.

GB Tron has been using fatal push as a great path replacement. Not sure what other sweet stuff you can play. Might be hard to find better anti aggro cards then timely reinforcements and the like.

I know that Timely is supposed to be the be-all-end-all, but it always seems lackluster to me in practice. One thing that I'm considering is replacing an Ugin with a Platinum Angel in the main deck. Most burn decks would have to use multiple spells to get rid of it, which is two that aren't being aimed at my face. It would similarly be good against decks like Elves. I'm pretty sure that Elves has exactly zero ways to beat it in the main deck. It's also a 7-mana card, which means that it's castable on turn 3 instead of turn 4 like Ugin.

I'd still need to find a way to shore up the game a bit against the prison-style decks, like BW Eldrazi (Thalia, Thoughtknot Seer, the BW artifact creature that takes a card from your hand, Leonin Arbiter, etc.). Going into black for my own Inquisitions and the like is a possible idea, although the deck generally doesn't want to play any colored mana lands in the first few turns.

I don't know if it's quite what you're looking for, but this can't hurt, right? Just posted today: https://www.channelfireball.com/articles/eldrazi-tron-deck-guide/

Thanks for the link. Some interesting stuff for sure.

Since Platinum Angel is less than $1 online I'll probably give it a shot and see how it goes. The blue Tron decks play it, but I'm guessing that's because they can protect it with counterspells(?) I've also been thinking about putting a Crucible of Worlds in the sideboard for the prison decks that play maindeck Tectonic Edge and Ghost Quarters. I'll have to think about that one though as it still might be too slow. I also came across a card called Dawnglow Infusion while looking through "X" spells. Hybrid G/W + X. If G was used to cast the spell, gain X life. If W was used to cast the spell, gain X life. Do both if GW was used. Probably too hard to hold onto mana fixing long enough to use it efficiently, but I sure do like the idea of gaining 14 life vs. burn.

I actually joined a Modern friendly league tonight and got my first 5-0, which was pretty cool. Beat Elves, Merfolk, Grixis Death's Shadow, a GR ramp/Tooth & Nail deck, and Storm (despite making a bad split in one of the Gifts Ungiven piles).
