I am using the latest version of packet tracer but still getting compatible issue and I can't find anywhere any solution of it anywhere if anyone knows how to open this file please help !!
It is bad that when you update to a new version any old file you have will not work on the new version, and there seems to be no workable solution found...it is annoying and pain as I am trying to use the tutorials I have here to help teach my class on how to use packet tracer
This tool is an essential part of the planning process of network design and structure. it allows you to see each process of encapsulation the packets go through a built network. It would be so helpful to have a portable version of this to show people your designed network and operation without having to priorly install the software
here is a link to the software (free download for cisco netacad students);

You cisco will also require a driver (or only work with stuff on cisco, I don't know). It will also require money for anyone not taking a cisco class. I'm not, and I don't have money just to buy some packet sniffer when WireShark does the job well enough for me.
i use wireshark aswell but for sniffing live networks, but packet tracer allows you to set up a whole network virtually and allows you to test the flow of data across your virtual network. its not actually a packet sniffer like wireshark its just a tool to simulate what would happen if you had devices in particular arrangments. you can also program each individual device as you would a real computer.
Good job buddy.I would like to request for more video tutorials on packet tracer.Yes Packet Tracer with GNS3 will be a good hands-on for CCNA and beyond, however, to get cisco IOS is not easy from google.If you got one send me the link on my gmail address:[email protected] .Thanks Xicohtl
Sounds like a great idea. Im a beginner with Cisco; would you please send me the download for packet tracer.
Also i have sit in on CCNA classes before i decided to register and the overwhelming problem in 3 schools i saw was knowledgeable instructors that were not either patient or able to break it down for understanding. I felt like i was listening to E=Mc2.
