Hi everyone!

I hope finals studying is going well. This is just to remind you that there's a meeting to discuss the future direction of Cal VSA at 8pm this Thursday at Ryan&Rich's apartment (2309 Blake St.). Attendance is optional for Fall 2011 Cabinet, but mandatory for Spring 2012 Cabinet (if you can't make it, let me know). To contribute ideas, add to this google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xGE4UloHiXTrrgb2jqHms-FIYJCtBhzs4C4KiNdadhQ/edit?hl=en_US SEE YOU THERE.

Cheers,
Emily

PS (ATTN: Piotr, Nhat, and Sally) Request access to the googlegroup ASAP, please! They won't let me send out more invites: http://groups.google.com/group/calvsacabinetspring2012/

I went over the agenda a bit. I personally think FALL CABINET should be there for sure. Their experience and observations is vital to have a clearer picture of the "state of VSA". And I think their minds are more seasoned to propose possible directions for our future.
I think pushing this kind of thinking upon the new cabinet is a bit weird given that they have not even been fully transitioned yet and may not know much about the inter workings of VSA (some has never been to a single cabinet meeting before). I do understand that the conversation is deciding what to do next semester, thus having the meeting mandatory for the spring cabinet makes sense since it would be them deciding their own path.
However, this kind of reminds me of how this fall semester went and did things differently, pressing new ideas on fresh minds to create experimental changes with very limited guidance from previous leaders... thus putting us in this current state. Also the Fall Cabinet agreed by consensus on this "emergency meeting" for ourselves at the last cabinet meeting.

I'm inferring that saying its "optional for Fall Cabinet" was a decision done by Spring Execs, so if the Fall Cabinet chooses not to come I understand. BUT I would STRONGLY URGE you to come on your own willingness for the aforementioned points.

Note that we are technically still Fall Cabinet in the Fall Semester who has not yet fully transitioned the in the Spring Cabinet. The transition meeting and kits still need to be done. Seeing that its unlikely that we can meet up again with finals pressing around the corner, I suggest that this emergency meeting be our transition meeting. I took the liberty of making a cabinet kit outline based off the Spring 2010 one that I had access to (see attached file). If Ryan or someone else wants to send out a different cabinet kit, be my guest. I'm just trying to speed things along.

Thanks for your time.
Hope I don't sound too douchey.

To Spring Cabinet:
Oh hello. My name is Rich Nam. I'm the super critical one in cabinet. I'm looking forward to working with y'all. :)

Even if you can't fill it out by the meeting today, I would say come to transition personally still and fill it out later. (Still fill it out if you come to transition personally though because these kits go to ALL future predecessors).

I wholeheartedly agree with Rich. With this semester coming to an end soon, it is good to have both cabinets there tonight to have a better transition for the Spring cabinet. It will help us transition better but also the Fall Cabinet, with their personal experience of being on cabinet, can give us input on the state of VSA. I personally feel that Spring Cabinet may not be fully informed on the problems that VSA is facing internally.

I sound extremely hypocritical because I won't be there physically tonight since I'm currently at home taking care of some family business. However, I hope to be on Skype voice/video at the meeting tonight which brings me to the reminder. At last cabinet meeting, Vivian Vo brought up the idea of not having laptops for other cabinet members. I really like that idea. However, whomever is taking notes, can I get your skype address so I can be in tune with the meeting? Thank you and sorry for any hassle.

Fall Cabinet: Y'all have taught me so much and I truly enjoyed being an intern in the Fall and it was a wonderful experience, I couldn't ask for more (sorry for the run-on sentence).

Spring Cabinet: I can't wait to work with everyone and learn from everyone else. And sorry for my lack of experience and knowledge, I'm only a little freshie.

I hope you will excuse me for only being able to be there for about an hour. I have some important deadlines tomorrow (grad app & thesis outline). Maybe I'll be able to stay longer if there's more progress on these projects by tonight.
See you all soon <3

Hello all, I apologize that I also will not be there for the full duration of the meeting. I will try to stay as long as I can, but it probably won't be the whole meeting, so I hope someone else can take notes? Thanksss! :D

Hm, is there an estimated time frame for this meeting? If not, I suggest that we set a goal to end the meeting within two hours, or even less, (so long as everyone is ready to START - not arrive - at 8pm and we don't have side chatter). There's no point in extending it any longer than that when some folks need to leave early, some cannot attend, and some are preoccupied with exams they need to study for post meeting.

fyi, my reply isn't a target at anyone lol

I'll take notes fasho but we should have a separate laptop to skype with Diana. Also remember to click reply to all so spring cabinet gets the emails too.
