Subject: Prayer Request

I sent out a prayer request some time back for one of the missionaries we support in Brazil, Ms. Kelly Love.  She was in the hospital in Brazil with COVID-19, and medicines at that time were not available.

She has now recovered, and is working with her missions team again.  Thank you everyone for your prayers for her.

I have four new prayer requests.  Two are for members of our church, one for a friend's son, and one for world missions.

A.  One is for a gentleman named Ron Cusson.  He has been battling cancer for four years.  At one point it was in remission, but is now back, and he is taking infusions.  Ron is a senior citizen.

B.  The other is for a gentleman whose name I am not listing at this time, because I don't know if his situation is general knowledge and I don't want to give away information he may not yet want all to know.

He has just been diagnosed with brain cancer.  The extent is not yet known, as he is awaiting an MRI and perhaps some other tests.

Please pray for both of these gentlemen, that God would lay His healing hand on them, and also that God would guide the doctors in their treatments of these two men.

C.  The son of a friend of mine is in the Army and was in basic training.  Unfortunately, 160 soldiers in his unit have come down with COVID-19, including him.  It is my understanding that the disease has not affected him too badly, which is a blessing.  But please pray for him and all the other young soldiers in that unit that they will get well quickly, without any lasting physical effects.

D.  Over the past couple of years, a number of missionaries that we support have come off the field for various reasons.  Others are not all that far from retirement.  At the same time, there don't seem to be as many people surrendering their lives to the call to the mission field as there were, say, forty years ago.  In addition, the number of people in church congregations is falling, across most denominations, including fundamental Baptists.  So there is not as much giving to missions.

What this has caused, apparently, is a new missionary having to spend two to three years on deputation lining up supporting churches and garnering the monthly financial support needed.  And some missionaries are even going to the field with less than the 100% financial support they need.  In the 1970s, it took about one year for a new missionary on deputation to line up this support.

So, once a new missionary is approved, after he or she have served their internship in some capacity in a church and have started deputation, it means that that new missionary will spend anywhere from one and one-half to three years on deputation before he or she can begin work on the field to which the Lord has called him or her.

Please pray for world missions, that the Gospel will be spread to the many areas that that God would strengthen the missionaries who are on the field;

And pray specifically that God would:

1.  Strengthen the missionaries that are on the field and open doors for them;

2.  Call many more people to the missions field;

3.  Provide the funds to get the new missionaries on the field quickly.

Thank you very much for your prayers.
