Hello everyone,

We have now assembled our public lecture and stargazing events list for the semester, which can be found on our website:  http://outreach.astro.caltech.edu/lectures .  We hope you'll join us for some talks and stars this year!  It's also worth noting that our events have moved back to the Cahill Astronomy and Astrophysics building with observing on the athletic fields.  We have also worked hard to get the stadium lights turned out for our events, so we should have much darker skies than before.

Our first event will be this Friday from 7-9PM featuring a talk by renowned astrophysicist Dr. Fiona Harrison, the principle investigator of the NuSTAR x-ray telescope and head of Caltech's Physics, Math, and Astronomy Division.  Dr. Harrison will give a talk entitled "The Universe through X-ray Eyes" with abstract below.  You don't want to miss this wonderful opportunity to hear Dr. Harrison speak!  We hope to see you this week and the rest of the year!

Abstract:
"The last decades have seen a revolution in astronomy with access to space, enabling telescopes that span the electromagnetic spectrum. Powerful telescopes have been launched that can view the universe in X-rays and gamma-rays, enabling astronomers to probe some of the hottest, densest and most energetic regions in the Universe. I will talk about how our current, panchromatic view has changed our understanding of the Universe, focusing on the high energy X-ray telescope NuSTAR."

For more information about this event and all of our activities, including directions and weather updates, please see our website: http://outreach.astro.caltech.edu
