Astronomy enthusiasts,
We have some exciting outreach events happening next Monday and later this month. Hopefully you can join us in person or online.
Monday, March 9 @ 7:30PMAstronomy on Tap
How the Smallest Galaxies Reveal Dark Matter's Secrets - Sasha MintzHow Jupiter's Moons Became Alien Worlds - Tim ProudkiiDog Haus Biergarten, Pasadena

What is dark matter, and how can dwarf galaxies reveal it? What secrets can be found on the alien worlds orbiting around Jupiter? Join us Monday, March 9th at 7:30PM as we discuss these topics and more at our next Astronomy on Tap. We'll host two ~20 minute talks, Q&A, and then follow it up with interactive, astronomical pub trivia, and guided stargazing with telescopes!
Friday, March 27 @ 8:00PMStargazing Lecture
Space Exploration: From the Deserts of Egypt to Saturn's Moon Titan - Charles ElachiCahill Center for Astrophysics, Caltech Campus
YouTube Livestream Link
What major discoveries has NASA made over the last 25 years of exploration in our Solar System? What are the conditions on Mars and the moons orbiting Jupiter and Saturn? Join us for a 30-minute lecture by
former NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Director Charles Elachi (2001-2016) as he discusses some of the exciting discoveries made by NASA during his tenure as director. His presentation will be followed by a panel Q&A consisting of several astrophysicists to answer your questions about astronomy and space science. Event will be
held both in-person as well as live-streamed on YouTube Live.
"The speaker will describe, from first hand experience, the fun and
excitement of hosting a number of scientific missions of exploration
undertaken by the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory. These include the
Mars rovers and helicopter, discoveries of lakes on Saturn's Moon Titan,
sounding for oceans under the ice shelf of Jupiter's moon Europa,
uncovering buried ancient rivers in Egypt, and mapping earthquakes with
the recent JPL
NiSAR mission."

I am going to be traveling for the month of April and the first half of May, so there will be a brief hiatus in our events, but we will plan to have another Stargazing Lecture at the end of May, and then a series of events in Early June (three Astronomy on Taps!) to coincide with the American Astronomical Society's meeting in Pasadena. More information to follow.
