All existing data on USB Disk you selected will be lost, USB disk will be formatted and ISO image file will be written to a first bootable partition. Another partition of type FAT32 will be also created for all available space and you can use it later on for your data storage.
This chapter describes the steps to create a DOS-bootable USB, floppy(a startup disk) and run the utility. If you have a bootable USB / floppy, skip to the Copy Active@ KillDisk to a USB / floppy section, below.
If you plan to use Active@ KillDisk for Hard Drives in Command Line mode, please skip the next section and read Boot to DOS (Command Line Mode). Once preparation of the bootable 3.5-inch USB / floppy disk is complete, you are ready to begin removing data.
Not all additional boot disk options are accessible for all platforms. For example, Add Drivers section applies only to Windows Operating System, and is available for Windows target only.
I had windows 8 and 8.1 and upgraded to windows 10. I need to run a kill disk on my machine. I bought the desktop from a friend, but he is a little shady and have no clue what he has done on this thing lol so I am starting from scratch. I'd rather run killdisk and start bare metal but I am not sure how to get windows 10 back. Can you download windows 10 prior to doing something like this, or would I simply have to run out and buy a copy? I have a copy of 8 and 8.1 pro from work (volume licensing). I am not sure if I install that, since it is from the vlc if it will allow me to upgrade to 10. Just wanting to know what my options are.
Thank you. Running a killdisk on the machine will not make a difference? How will the ISO, when booted know that this machine had this OS on there previously if the killdisk is run? Does that not wipe everything on the drive even more than a clean install?
