Hello Everyone,

SWE has shared a great volunteer opportunity open to everyone.

Volunteer for the first ever MIT BWSI + SWE Cube Satellite Challenge

Join 5 other SWE sections from across the US, along with the MIT Beaver Works Summer Institute (BWSI), for our first ever collaboration! Sign up to be a mentor, or help us plan and recruit high school teams to participate in the challenge. Mentor time commitment is 2-3 hours per week from November 2021 through March 2022. Each mentor will receive their own hardware kit to build a satellite (identical to what teams will receive) as well as access to the fully documented online course, and will help their team build and troubleshoot either virtually or in-person if feasible. Experience in the following is recommended but not required: Python, image processing, Linux, and systems engineering.

You can learn more about the event at the CubeSat Challenge website and volunteer applications can be submitted here.

Feel free to contact Emily Gavrilenko at cpswer...@gmail.com or attend a virtual info session on Thursday October 7th at 6:10pm over Zoom at https://calpoly.zoom.us/j/85188259160 to learn more.

Thank-you,
