Hey Robotics Club,

As mentioned yesterday, the Robotics Club elections are tomorrow. It
will take place in 10-231 at 11am (the usual). Pizza will be provided.

If you want to be an officer next year, be prepared to say a few words
about who you are and why you are the right person for the job
(nothing too formal - Pres and VP candidates get 2 minutes, everyone
else gets one). You can run for as many positions as you like, but you
can only be elected to one of them.

If you want to run but cannot make it to the meeting, email me today
to tell me the position(s) you are interested in. I will put your name
on the "ballot." If you want to vote but cannot make it, email me a
list of names with positions that you want to vote for, ie "Daniel
Artis for Vice President."

Here is some advice from Darron Baida, President from 2007-2009:

- Just do it!
- You do not have to be a senior or junior, freshmen can make fine
officers
- You do not have to be a loudmouth. A retecent president would be
different, but very possible
- Officers delegate and shouldn't do it all themselves
- There's plenty of support (for example, you can ask me questions,
even
though I'll be gone from CP; Darron too)
- It looks great on resume, in interviews, and give you a better
big
picture understanding

There have been some questions about the Xiphos announcement I made
yesterday. First off the documentation is a little hard to find on the
Google Code page but here is the link:

http://robotics.ee.calpoly.edu/xiphosdocs/

Next, I mentioned that you can download the code yesterday, but I
misspoke. What I meant to say was that you can "Check Out" the code
using a SVN host. One popular version of this is TortoiseSVN for
windows. I will clarify this further at a later point, and clear
directions will be posted online soon.

Also, some example will be posted on Google Code showing how to use
the libraries, serial port, and real time clock.

Hope this clears up some questions. Stay tuned for more details. If
you have specific questions please email me.
