Useful for any brainstorming session, mind mapping apps helps you plan and organize ideas for better clarity and understanding. It can also help you easily identify the best idea or solution from all the potentials you have.
Unless you want to lose your mind map to the ocean of other things you have to remember, using a piece of paper for mapping may not be the optimal way. If your idea has many moving parts, mapping it on a piece of paper can make it seem scattered and disconnected.
I've been a Tony Buzan Licensed Instructor for several years. (one of the few TBLIs in the USA). I've used Mind Manager, Mind Genius, iMindMap, Mindomo, MindMasterand others, but Xmind is BY FAR my favorite and my 'go to' mind mapping software. It's simple but powerful. The BEST feature is that Xmind works similarly on Android as it does on MS Windows. Of all of the MindMapping software that I use, I recommend Xmind to my students and clients more than any other program. Keep up the good work!!
made it super easy to use the mindmap as a fullscreen presentation tool. As a speaker, it helped stay focused on topic under discussion and not get lost with lots of context switching and scope creep. I think I will try it more
This software has changed my business and my life! The first step in creating my new business was born because my coach suggested using Xmind. In doing my first map I realized that what I had been doing in my 30 year career had value for others and it showed me a path to using it that I had never realized was there. I have since created multiple programs, teach others and have a platform for reaching thousands in my target market. It all started from one mind map! I have continued to use Xmind to create classes, write books and build my business. It's an amazing tool!
I was not convinced about mindmapping representation before I discover XMind. Now, 99% of my work of Microsoft Visio has been migrated to XMind and my headhaches have disappeared. Thank you for your product that have upgraded the quality of my work (creation of training supports and videos)
Xmind has been part of my super powers for awhile now. What a tool! I use it in so many ways. Recently I did a fish one chart (cause and effect) and then turned it into a action-aspiration diagram. Wow.
If you all implement the clone item feature, the mind map view would be useful for visualizing which parents connect to the cloned item. Until then, I find that the list view is more intuitive for visualizing strictly hierarchical information.
This is not untrue, still developing the mind map view further, making it editable for instance, will be a huge step forward. I dare to speculate I am not the only one who would appreciate it. This is not to stir anything up, just to voice support to Erica & Co in their plans and efforts.
Turn your thoughts into a mind map in just a few clicks. Organize your idea with shapes, colors, flags, and more. Use the auto-layout feature and make the perfect mind map, org chart, or family tree.
Annotate and highlight your mind map with your pen, then export it to PDF or PNG for easy sharing. Or, sync your work to OneDrive for access on all your devices.
Mind Maps Pro is the most intuitive mind map app, made exclusively for the Microsoft Store.
MINDMAP performs all the normal functions of a modern mind mapping application. You can create the mind maps in either a graphical or outline view. Adding text notes, icons, or symbols is an easy matter. There are at least 3,000 standard icons supplied with MINDMAP Pro. You can also add call-outs to your map or have independent nodes.
Good review my friend. I experienced using many mind mapping software such as iMindMap, Mindjet, ConceptDraw MINDMAP, Inspiration, NovaMind and free mind mapping software (FreeMind). I found that ConceptDraw is the professional one and easy to use with fully functional features.
How can I have the size of a mindmap node be calculated automatically by TikZ such that the text inside fits nicely inside? With inner sep=... I am able to have the height fit in such a way, but not the width. Btw.: I am using rectangles as nodes, not the standard circles.
to the style for every node. The mindmap style applies styles for each level of the tree which set the width of the text. You could override these separately per level, but if you want to do this generally, just adding it for all nodes seems to make more sense.
In school and university education, mind maps are effective learning aids. By structuring information in a way that is compatible with visual learning styles, and by filtering long texts into shorter mind map topics, learners can absorb more information, faster.
Mind mapping gets your creative juices flowing and can inspire you to refine unformed ideas or discover new concepts. That's because mind maps use images and keywords to create new associations in your brain, which you can also transcribe with incredible speed.
In 2007, the first web-based mind map tool was released: MindMeister. With billions of ideas generated by over 25 million users worldwide, the tool has revolutionized ideation for business and education.
copy the nodes in the mindmap and paste - Bam. They turn into tasks. The Child nodes from the mindmap even turn up as indented text in Asana - so you can recognise subtasks. Multiple-select and drag them into a task as sub-tasks.
Hi. I saw this and tried it with a different mindmap tool I use (SimpleMind) and it worked too. I exported/copied outline mode. Nice to know pasting hierarchical text stays that way for at least a few other tools we Asana users have in our bag of tricks. Hope this helps others at least check if pasting from other tools they use might work as well. Cheers!
Great post guys! @Alexis is there any plans to incorporate a native mind mapping feature into Asana at some point? Im with @George_supreeth I find using a mindmap to get ideas out to be way more efficient than how you would add them to Asana. Being able to create a mind map and create actionable tasks from it would be awesome.
From my point of view this is awesome for every mindmapper, we can outline the project and complex issues in a mindmap and once done we can simply send the tasks to an Asana project and collaborate from there.
I am really excited
Design Tip: The supporting ideas in the mind map above are all different colors, which helps them stand out from one another. This makes the mind map easier to scan. Use a free tool like Coolors or ColourLOVERS to try out different color palettes.
A collaboration strategy includes multiple aspects that you need to expand on in this smart strategy mind map. The bullet points make the information easier to understand. There is also plenty of room to elaborate on points and build on the strategy.
Or the findings can be summed up in a mind map and presented to the group in an instant messaging program like Slack or in a presentation. Most of the mind map examples in this post can be used for presentations.
Explain key findings to the rest of the exec team with this creative brainstorming mind map. Add it to your presentation or report. The icons are a fresh visual way to explain new concepts at a glance.
Or keep things simple by focusing on three key ideas and then breaking down those ideas further using nodes or bullet point notes to show possible courses of action, like in this brainstorming mind map template:
Pro Tip: Planning a strategy such as SEO topic clusters? Brainstorming session with your client or boss? Plug your ideas into a mind map and share the design instantly using a private link. Or turn on team sharing with Venngage for Business to collaborate.
Design Tip: Replace any icon in your mind map template using our simple online editor. It has an icon library with over 40,000 free icons. In the below example, I replaced the web icon with a WordPress icon.
Use a project management mind map to show a process. Use the template below to highlight the goals of your project and the steps required to achieve them. Or number the colored boxes to show steps in the process (and then steps within each of them).
For example, this mind map uses a camera shape for the central idea to reflect the film theme. Then, the supporting concepts use a black rectangle that draws your attention, with smaller, light circle ideas branching out:
Differentiate focus words from the rest by writing them in upper case. For example, the mind map template below uses upper case for the title and the central idea. This indicates that those are the main points of the mind map.
Symmetrical designs are pleasing to the eye. They can also make your charts feel more balanced and organized. To create a symmetrical mind map, place an even number of branches on either side of the central idea.
Although it may sound like a far-fetched business tool, chances are you've used mind maps throughout your life. Whether it's a so-called "spider diagram" at school or planning out an essay in college, mind maps are very common. In fact, they even date back to the philosophers of ancient Greece and Leonardo da Vinci during the Renaissance.
