Please share with your chapter…. On the tail of an election season, representation is extremely important. Delegates play such an important role in MCGC and your organization. I know many groups assign this task to their new members and I think that’s a great idea. But, I want you truly consider who you are sending to represent your organization. This person is responsible for representing your organization and being your voice at the MCGC table. This pair is also the one responsible for getting important information back to you and the chapter. So, as you move forward, please be mindful that you are selecting members that can be your voice and messenger. I would also like to take a moment to recognize those graduating this semester…congratulations!! I hope you take this opportunity to remain involved in your organization and continue to be a beacon for current chapter members. Need to Know
· Insurance, please verify that your insurance is up to date with our office. If you are unsure, please contact me as soon as possible.
· Thank you to everyone that participated in the Coordinator Search. The staff is almost fully staffed; our next challenge is to find an Assistant Director who can serve the F&S community. This will be especially crucial if the two coordinators that are selected/hired will serve IFC/PHC. The Assistant Director, will need to be someone who will be able to have a strong background in NPHC and MCGC. So, please keep your eyes open for invitations to participate in those open forums this May and early June.
· Please encourage your members to apply to the 2013-14 MCGC Executive Board:
o VP Operations: You are the keeper of the rules! You know the constitution like the back of your hand and are to be familiar with FIPG, and the ins and outs of things like the university recognition agreement and other regulations. It is your duty to plan helpful workshops as well as those that are required by the school.
o VP External: The social one! You work more closely with other councils as you are in charge of all things CalGreeks! Greek Carnival, Greek Week, etc. Lots of meetings, lots of fun! You work with a diverse group of council representatives. VP Externals must be creative (since they help plan and manage large scale events), and opinionated. Our council is looking for someone who will constantly voice the needs of our community and won't take no for an answer!
o Treasure: Keeper of the funds (not really)/creator of the budgets! You plan fundraisers, are in charge of budgets, collect dues, send statements ."

· Event Services has worked out an arrangement with the Cal Alumni House to offer student groups up to 20% off (up to $200) if they use Event Services to book the Alumni House!
· Due to popular demand, Event Services is now waiving the $77 per hour fee for event planning.
· Your ASUC student leaders were recently contacted by building coordinators regarding the dangers of placing flyers in classrooms. I just wanted to remind you that while placing flyers in buildings may be good for advertising your group's events, it has become a problem for the campus in terms of clean up and safety. Professors and students have been known to slip and fall from walking on glossy flyers and has been a cause of concern for emergency drills. While the ASUC EVP office is working with classroom reservations to open up more classrooms for our student organizations during Lower Sproul Redevelopment, we have to keep classrooms clean and safe so that our partnerships can continue and expand. Some building coordinators have threatened to close classrooms down if the situation does no improve. I am working with them to make sure that we maintain spaces for student organizing, but please help us by cleaning up flyers in classroom and keeping classrooms clean. There are now building monitors in some classroom buildings. These individuals are employees of Classroom Scheduling. If they ask you to vacate a room because you do not have a reservation or to get rid of food, please comply with them.
· The ASUC Table and Chair program has been a hit! The location close to Sproul has made it easier for all of us to table especially now that we don't have to lug tables and chairs all over the campus. I am writing to remind you to please remember to return all tables and chairs at the end of each day after use. In order for this program to continue to be successful, we have to keep our shared equipment well maintained and well stocked.
