MCGC Members,
I hope your summers are going well and that you are able to have some fun.
I believe that this will be my last email to the entire council as your advisor. But I felt that there are some important steps/pieces that cannot be forgotten...even though it's summer. Please make sure you read this and complete the steps...there are some deadlines this week.
I'm very excited at the conversations and steps that I have had with the new Executive Board...I have high hopes for next year and I truly do hope you do as well. I will be meeting with the Board one last time next week and I hope that it will prepare them to hit the ground running with the new Advisor. Sitting in the interviews this week, I know all 3 will make wonderful Assistant Directors, my biggest concern in that room is who will serve you the best. Devan and I are working to be your advocate and to share our opinions on who would best serve you; please thank Devan when you get a chance for the time he has put into this long process.
I encourage you to continue to push MCGC and your chapters to live your values and to keep pushing the boundary between what is acceptable and what is excelling. So many of you are doing great things, but if you stop and look, I think so many of you will find that you could go further than you could ever imagine. So, don't be afraid of a challenge...look where your chapter and the council can step it up and make 13-14 the best year that your chapter and council has ever seen and never thought possible!
So, thank you for working with me this past year...it definitely has been a pleasure and I definitely will miss each of you and the challenges and laughter you brought into my life. Thank you for making me feel at home in MCGC and at Cal. Just in case you need to reach me after June 27th, please feel free to contact me at cqher...@hotmail.com.

Golf Tournament:
Jeff was
contacted by Cal Athletics to see if the CalGreeks Community and/or individual chapters are interested in volunteering at the “Big Golf Game,” a charity golf tournament for the Fam 1st Family Foundation. The golf tournament is being hosted by Marshawn Lynch (Seattle Seahawks, former Cal player) and Josh Johnson (Cincinnati Bengals). The goal of the tournament is to raise money for a much needed youth center in Oakland. It will be on Saturday June 29th at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco and includes lunch, a putting contest, golf, crazy competition holes, a dinner, awards, auction items, custom signed golf shirts, autographs and pictures with some of your favorite NFL stars that will be in attendance.
Volunteers are needed and this is where the CalGreeks community and your chapter can help. We are recruiting between 35-40 volunteers. Some of the tasks we have currently are:
Set-up prior to event starting (9am)
- Registration tables (gift bags/t-shirts)
- Hole preparation
- Organizing raffle items
- Putting up signage
During event
- Participant sign in (11am)
-
Monitoring putting contest (11am)
Set up for awards and silent auction
Shifts are from 9am-1pm and from 12pm-4pm.
If you and/or your chapter are interested in volunteering, please email Jeff at jeff....@berkeley.edu and let me know how many members from your chapter can volunteer and their names and email addresses.
