If you are studying for the certification and you are not taking the classes from an ATC, please carefully review the information on the certification including the competency area tabs. You can use the competency areas to guide your study using MM books that are published which are not class materials. (see the above link on books).
In the absence of taking a class, you're going to have a difficult time getting access to a system in order to practice what you're learning in the book. It's not impossible, though, especially if you are willing to invest *some* money in system access. (See the above link on system access). It is an open question as to whether or not system access to a system without data or exercises as you would get in a class is helpful or not when studying for certification.
