The system will not simply hangup on answering machines. It will attempt to play the file after an answering machine is detected. And it will try and detected the beep.
Also, answering machine detection is not always perfect.
It is possible that a live person becomes misdetected as answering machine. So the system requires a file for the answering machine case regardless.

I am setting up the cloud and have opted not to allow answering machines to connect to me yet it is asking me to select a message that I would like to use for answering machines. Isn't this a mute point?
