hi, guys,

I had to post this.  We were, at some point last night, talking about fragrances derived from essential oils and all these sort of crazy new natural-ish fragrances we're starting to see pop up.  Wouldn't you know it - New Directions Aromatics sent out an ad for their 4 new "nature-identical EOs", which they are describing as a mix of EOs and aromatic compounds.  MSDS aren't up quite yet, but think it's still a work-in-progress. (Although guessing you'd still have to list 'fragrance' unless they call out what the non-EO stuff is.)

check it out:

smaller, friendlier link to the NDA page: http://tinyurl.com/6dleyd2

I wonder if this is going to be a trend - it's super-intriguing.

Anyway, that's the end of my random dispatch.  Looking forward to catching up with everybody again in June.

happy Friday,

Jen

Hi Jen,

Alana sent this to me this morning and I also saw the email (I’m on their newsletter too!).

What caught my attention was the following wording on the description page:

Nature identical essential oils are a blend of natural essential oils and aromatic compounds. They are a great alternative to pure essential oils for providing an identical aroma for your cosmetics, soaps, and candles at a fraction of the cost. When compared to fragrant oils that are 100% synthetic, nature identical oils have fewer synthetic compounds, whilst offering a superior aroma.

I knew it – they do have some synthetic compounds and so they are NOT natural. Disappointing to get all excited and then learn the truth.

Hmf.

Anyway, Jen, it was great to see You, Alana, Sherry & Christian at the “meeting.” Had a great time and we will have to plan another one perhaps at the end of June so those of us who didn’t go to the conference can hear all about it! I’m sure you’ll have a great time as usual.

Say HI to everyone for me J
