SOAP SWAP & 8th Anniversary Party!

As you may or may not know, The Nova Studio is Celebrating its anniversary this year with a big 8-Year Anniversary Party!
It will be on Saturday, September 3, 2011, from 1-4 pm. Mark your calendars - we really hope you can make it! There are still many things in the planning stages, and we hope that the website page will be live in a few days, but before then we wanted to give you a heads up about something that we hope you’ll want to participate in.
We will be having a SOAP SWAP again this year! Since the party is less than four weeks away, no one has time to make soap & cure it, so you have two options. One option is, do you have 10 bars of the same soap sitting around that you’ve made in the past that you’d like to use? They do have to be 10 of the same. The other option is that you can make a soap & put on the label “do not use before” & include the proper 6 week cure date. Soaps don’t have to be labeled professionally, but they do need some kind of label to allow people to match the bar with the recipe sheet. Recipe sheets are included with the intent that anyone who knows how to make soap can make it (so you don’t need to include basic soap instructions, just how much of each ingredient you added and anything else someone would need in order to recreate it). Out of the 10 person swap (assuming we get enough people), there will be 9 participants and 1 bar of each soap will stay here at The Nova Studio to show/brag during classes.

JOIN OUR PRODUCT SWAP
If you've never done a swap before, you are in for a real treat! A SWAP is a great way to get your product out there and see what other people are doing at the same time. The SWAP category is SOAP (cold process, hot process or melt & pour). Please try to make your soap as natural as possible (ex. choose essential oils over fragrance oils, etc.) so the products in the swap will be able to be used by everyone. Each swap will have a maximum of 10 people. If we get a large number of participants, we'll have several 10 person swaps.
HOW DO YOU JOIN ? Simply email with your name, phone #, and what you are bringing. Bring 10 of your chosen product (full size bars please) and a typed 8.5 x 11 recipe sheet (11 copies). Then show up to the anniversary party at 1pm and we'll display your handmade/crafted soaps for all to ooh and ah. Around 4pm or when you are leaving, you'll grab one of each soap to take home along with the recipe book. Very simple and tons of fun - trust me - you'll love it!

Hi Carla,
Yeah, we may end up splitting the swap into two if we get enough people – maybe one group of people who can’t make it & one who can? We can certainly make it work J
I’m afraid we wouldn’t be able to mail it, so the only catch is that you’d have to pick up your soaps (within a month of the swap).
