1:00 p.m., August 23 at Green Party State Assembly in
Dana Point, CA
Dana Point, CA Green Party presidential candidate
Cynthia McKinney will address delegates to a state
assembly of the Green Party of California at the Dana
Point Community House on Saturday, August 23 at 1:00
p.m. Visitors are welcome to the address. The site of
the meeting is the Dana Point Community House, located

Nominated as the Green Party candidate for President
at the Green National Convention in Chicago last July,
Cynthia McKinney served as a representative of the
people of Georgia in Congress for six terms as a
Democrat before seeking the Green Party nomination for
President in 2008. She was the first African American
woman elected to the U.S. Congress in the state of
Georgia. The Green Party made history in July by
nominating the nation's first all-woman-of color
ticket. McKinney named longtime community organizer,
journalist and former director of the Hip Hop Caucus,
Rosa Clemente, as her running mate.

The Green Party of California holds periodic assemblies
to revise its platform, adopt internal bylaws, elect
state officers, and other internal business. The
August 23 and 24 Assembly will also see the party
adopting positions on the s tate initiatives slated for
the November ballot.

The August State Assembly is hosted by the Green
Party of Orange County. The GPOC last played host to
a GPCA State Assembly in 2003 in Fullerton. The local
party has already endorsed the candidacy of Tom Lash
for U.S. Congress in the 46th District. Greens
previously serving in office in Orange County include
Karl Warkomski, who served on the founding city
council and later as mayor of the city of Aliso Viejo.

CALL FOR FUTURE PLENARY HOSTS / SITES
The GPCA is putting out an all-out call for counties who are
interested in hosting state plenaries. We need host counties for the
following approximate dates:

* Jan. 2009 (No. CA / Central Valley)
* Apr. 2009 (So. CA)

You provide the site, the food, and the volunteers; you handle the
money; and we provide the program. It's Easy! Whether you're an old or
newly organized county -- or even if you have yet to organize, and
think that a state plenary will help galvanize your county into action
-- we are ready to meet in YOUR town!
We even have a handy-dandy plenary cookbook , prepared by GROW. Check
it out! It makes hosting a plenary a no-brainer; and your county can
make some money, too.

Preferences are to hold plenaries in northern CA during the summer
months and in southern CA during the winter months (or anytime along
the coast!).

(Note: Most plenaries take at least 6 months' lead time to plan; more
if a suitable site must be found. The farther out you can commit to
hosting, the better and easier it will be.)

Contact the Agenda Team if your county is interested!
