I could not agree more. We need a single tiered system covering
averyone in this country. It is a disgrace that anyone within our
borders should lack full access. Monies for this should come from
general taxation, the state and undoubtedly will cost more taxes. The
are legal reasons why this should be so but the main argument remains
that physicians have to do the best they can inherent in our basic
documents. It is a matter of how we deem this--as a matter of course
and our own comfort. Living in a society in which this is not done
will have little solidarity. Knowing that my neighbour will probably
die shortly unless he gets a CABG which I can esasily get because my
income is better than his is hardly an expression of solidarity in our society.
