Hi, I'm Cindy Cross! For those of you who don't know me, I went to
school in Grandview and graduated in 2001. I'm married and have TWO
boys, Andrew (18 mos) and Mason (4 weeks). My husband, John, and I
live in East Wenatchee (yes, it's a different city than
Wenatchee...we're in different counties... right across the water from
each other!). We're BUSY BUSY with two babies and I'm watching a
little boy just a month younger than Andrew. It gets hectic at
times. If any of you happen to know of quick and easy SNACK and LUNCH
ideas, let me know, okay? I'm always looking for something new to
feed the little guys, and if you have something that's relatively
CHEAP, that'd be MUCH appreciated! We all know how expensive kids
are!

So I made a craft yesterday. Cassie, would you mind posting the
following instructions and website? I'd really appreciate it! Here
it is!

RAINSTICK

Trace around the end of your tube onto a piece of brown paper (or
construction paper). Draw a bigger circle around that circle and then
draw a lot of spokes between the two circles. Cut along the spokes.
Put glue on the spokes and glue the cap onto one end of your tube. (I
found it was easier to put the glue on the tube and make the spokes
stick that way, but do whatever is easiest for you!)

Cut a piece of aluminum foil that is about one and half times the
length of your tube and about 6 inches wide. Crunch the aluminum foil
into two long, thin, snake-like shapes. Then twist each one into a
spring shape (I used my finger to wrap it around and then pulled it
apart a bit to make it a longer spring). Put the aluminum foil
springs into your tube.

Pour some dry beans, dry rice, or unpopped popcorn into your tube. The
tube should only be about 1/10 full. You can experiment to see how
different amounts and different types of seeds and beans change the
sound. (I used about 1/4 cup of rice for a paper-towel tube--It worked
well.)

Make another cap from brown paper (the same as the first three steps)
and cap your tube.
Decorate the tube by covering it with brown paper or construction
paper, and then making designs with crayons or markers (or cut-out
paper or stickers).

luck!!
