Hazelnut shrubs for community gardens

The Community Orchard Pilot Project has a few surplus hazelnut shrubs
to donate to community gardens in Calgary. We still have 7 to 10
hazelnuts that have not been spoken for.
These are American Hazelnuts. They produce nuts that are smaller but
similar in flavour to commercial hazelnuts.They will produce between
10 and 15 lbs of nuts every two or three years. They grow up to 8 x 8
feet and are variably suckering. Because of this it is recommended
that they either be planted in large containers or pruned back in the
winter/spring before they leaf out.
