For what it's worth, it's the first problem I've had with Telus. (Been
about 5 months)
I did have a bit of problems about 2 or 3 days ago. At one point I couldn't
access my email for a couple of hours. Now it's fine.
I find that email with Telus is terribly reliable. It hardly ever goes
down. With Shaw it was a joke. I don't know how much money I may have lost
due to not getting messages in time (if I was to add my loss of income due
to it)

You can't blame shaw for lost revenue due to lost email: They're only
providing a consumer level service. If you require business services and
reliability, you're going to have to fork out a few extra dollars.

Since I've moved over to shaw, I have had no problems with email,
newsgroups or surfing. Been there for nearly several months now.

Telus is horrible
And we've had just the opposite problem.. we were on Shaw.. moved in with
friends while our house is being built - they have Telus. The
downtime/problems we've had here have convinced us never to use them in our
new place.
It just depends on where you are I guess...

While you are right about using consumer grade for business reasons,
I'll tell you that Shaw's Business Solution has been very frustrating where
I work. They have "Rebooting Routers" on a regular basis. By that I mean
they don't have a clue what's wrong and simply tell you that a router cycled
itself. (Ever hear of redundency!) I know that **nobody** can offer 100%
uptime though, and I think I have relatively reasonable expectations. The
part that drives me nuts though is when they change all the DNS Entries
(etc) without so much as an E-Mail. When our external IP changes, we have
to do *a lot* of work to keep the mail flowing and our sattelite offices
connected. It really sucks when you come in at 7:30 in the morning to find
out Toronto has been disconnected for a couple of hours. (Especially if I
haven't had my coffee yet!!) Overall, I wouldn't suggest using Shaw for
Business - but I wouldn't cross it out as a choice. They (To me anyhow) are
professional amateurs. They get the job done, but make a lot of repetitice
careless mistakes. For the price....not bad.

How sloppy. I'd guess they're geared towards Small Businesses, as they
don't sound reliable enough for anyone larger.
On second thought, they don't sound reliable enough for a client of any
size/need.
For the price, a Small Biz is going to be just as well off using
Cable/DSL, and hoping for the best.

My biggest gripe was thier dhcp servers dropping periodically in what
seemed to be in perfect synch with my server dhcp requests. But, ever
since I set a job to renew the IP every 12 hours, I haven't had it
drop once on me yet. All in all, except for billing related issues,
Telus service has been fairly stable for me.

Well like I said, the Webmail problem (Which was resolved after a couple
of days) is really the only significant problem I've had. Personally, I
recommend Telus ADSL to everyone.
