Hello!

I want to talk about the Downtown Community Garden, a project of the Calgary Food Policy Council and the Calgary Downtown Association. The Garden is looking fantastic! There's lettuce, carrots, radishes, onions, spinach, and more. I really want to thank everyone who's helped the garden get this far. All of it is lush and beautiful, and we're sure to be harvesting soon!

This Sunday though, July 11th, we're going to be thinning and weeding. Starting at 1pm, we'll gather to make sure that everything can grow to be big and healthy, to make sure that we have a productive year. There will be free coffee and great people, verdant plants and good times!

Hope to see you there! - Matt Hammer, Co-Coordinator of the Downtown Community Garden

Wonderful!  I am with you all in spirit as I love some veggies in another region for the summer.  I would suggest that those who can, bring some watering cans - also - if a good soak is given on Friday morning or afternoon - the ground will be easier to work with - with resect to transplanting (ideally - it would be good to have it watered on Saturday - to prepare for this, however - Friday afternoon might be alright.

If anyone has some spare seeds to replant where there are bare patches - please feel free to bring them......sometimes a few meadow flowers are nice -

I love this garden - and what it represents.  Have a delightful day together with these lovely plants!!!!

Warmly,
Vi
