Greetings..
For the record, for all who are interested at all...the court date has come and gone - with respect to my being beaten by four police officers at the after party of the Calgary Folk Festival (of which I was invited - and had just finished a silent vigil honoring another murdered woman found in Vancouver - in solidarity with the Walk4Justice team and friends there)....and the attempts to have me banned from all of the venues that they would be doing music. (Yes, this was attempted...) The judge ruled in my favor. What does that have to do with the garden??? Well - post trauma regarding system abuse sometimes sets in.
Ready to get on.
Anyone wishing to come to the downtown garden - and put in as many ideas as possible....and you can come by today at noon - feel free to do so. The location is just down from Barclay Parade...turns into 3rd street....and 6th Ave. Just outside of the Starbucks coffee shop.
Bring tools....spades today would be most appropriate..any compost - if you have any...
This is basically to brainstorm on the best ideas (whether you have been a gardener or not...to come by and make these plots as productive as possible this year..and improve every year. Permaculture ideas - what herbs or veggies you all think would be the best to plant where there is not alot of long direct sun. This action last year (although not in the most ideal positioning....actually was a sweet way of waking up the city. People loved it..and the dialogue as well as motivating people to open up spaces for caring for community was profound indeed.
Woud appreciate anyone who wishes to come by. This garden is without borders and belongs to all people in the city.....proceeds to go to the Food Bank. We should be able to produce quite a few herbs....and veggies to give at least three good crops - (last year the veggies were taken to the Drop In Centre - and it was the only fresh produce they had received. Think about that one.
We can make a difference and change this around.
Cheers,
Vi
