Please take the time to read my letter below, and if you agree, copy and paste it into an e-mail of your own. Send it to every government official you can think of, especially the MLA's, MP's and Ministers of Agriculture. This is ridiculous that in this day and age the government regulates the sale of junk like tobacco, alcohol, pop and candy, yet they cannot legalize and regulate the sale of milk. How crazy does that sound to you??? You can come to my farm and buy meat that has been slaughtered at a government inspected abattoir, yet you can't come to my farm and buy milk from my cow. You can go to town and buy a bottle of whisky, which has terrible consequences when mishandled, but you cannot come to my farm and buy MILK!!!!

All that Michael Schmidt from Ontario, myself and many others are asking is that raw milk sales be legalized and inspected just like meat. Today in Ontario Michael Schmidt, who had been acquitted of all charges, had that acquittal overturned and is now going to be charge with selling raw milk. I want everyone of you to do something about it. Do as much as you can to help farmers and push our representatives to change this archaic law. Please help now by using the letter below:

I want everyone of you in government at all levels of this country to know how disappointed I and my family are with your persecution of Michael Schmidt. In a so-called "civilized age" where we know so very much about food, nutrition and health, how can you possibly lay charges against a man selling MILK, when people are allowed to purchase things such as alcohol, tobacco, soda pop, candy, and the list goes on and on of crap that we know is terrible for our bodies?????????? Do you not see how ridiculous this legislation is? We know that pop, candy, alcohol, tobacco and so many other things are bad for us, and yet you allow their sales under certain rules and regulations of course. Why then, do you consider milk to be more of a threat than that? Why can you not legalize milk sales at the farm gate, and regulate the safety of it no different than inspected meat sales from farm gate?

What really baffles me, is that, if milk is so dangerous in it's raw state, why do you allow families to consume it themselves? You are not vilifying milk, you are vilifying the SALE of milk. The message the law conveys to the public is that it's fine to drink it, it's NOT fine to sell it. So what you are really after is the control of farmer's selling their own products, is this not true? That is exactly the message you are portraying with this archaic piece of legislation. I am disgusted to be a Canadian this day because of your persecution of this man who does everything he can to provide a safe product to families who trust him and love what he does and stands for. Shame on all of you.

If you are a government official reading this, the time for change is now. This is an unjust law, being wielded in unjust fashion. The science behind pasteurization is flawed, the arguments outdated, and all that aside, stop and think about the manner in which the law is used. It's perfectly safe to drink the milk ourselves, but somehow it becomes a dangerously toxic substance and a threat to the public when MONEY BECOMES INVOLVED???????? Let's bring common sense into the equation and legalize raw milk.
