Calgary and area flood response actions:

Entire towns and neighbourhoods are under mandatory evacuation.
For Calgary, see:
http://www.calgary.ca/General/Pages/State-of-Local-Emergency.aspx
For Alberta:
http://www.emergencyalert.alberta.ca/

• If your home is in an evacuation zone, please quickly grab whatever you need and leave right away. People remaining behind will cause problems for emergency workers.

• If you are in an area that isn't yet being evacuated, but might be at risk, please get yourself ready to leave on short notice. The floodwaters have not yet peaked.

• If you have space to accommodate evacuees overnight, please post on your Facebook wall (or Twitter, etc.) for your friends contacts. If you don't get your space filled up with friends/family/coworkers/etc., you can use a site like Reddit:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/comments/1gqqc2/evacuations_in_high_river_canmore_and_calgary_do/

• Something everyone can do:
PLEASE MINIMIZE YOUR WATER USAGE!

The flooding is putting a strain on municipal water systems, so everything we can do to minimize demands on the system is for the good.

Maybe put off laundry and such for a couple days if you can, please.

• The City of Calgary has stated that they currently have all the hands they can use to address the emergency, so people are encouraged to stay away from trouble zones. Please also stay off the highways if you can as some have been damaged by flooding. In general, best to just stay home if you can (or wherever you might be staying overnight).

Do watch for notice of calls for volunteers and be ready if the need arises.

• Please share any other helpful actions that people can take.
