When: Sunday, June 8th, 1:30PM
Where: Tomkins Park, 8th Street and 17th Avenue SW

The next session of Speakers’ Corner will be held at Tomkins Park at the corner of 8th Street and 17th Avenue SW on Sunday, June 8, 2014 commencing at 1:30 pm.

The topic for discussion will be:
BE IT RESOLVED THAT ALBERTA LICENCE ITS PHYSICIANS, PHARMACISTS AND NURSE PRACTITIONERS TO PROVIDE ASSISTED SUICIDE AND EUTHANASIA ON DEMAND FOR TERMINALLY ILL AND DYING PERSONS

Speaking in favour of the resolution will be Donna Wilson. She is an RN with a full-time tenured position as Professor in the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Alberta and is a consultant. She holds a Baccalaureate in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing majoring in Gerontology & Health Care Management and a Phd. in Educational Administration. She has over 200 published articles, books, book chapters, & other communications in print. There is so much more she has done & continues to do which cannot all be stated here.

Speaking against the resolution will be Brian Rushfelt. At age 33 he graduated with a BSW at U of C. He did family and addiction counseling for 10 years. Then he got involved in ministry at a church and bible college. In 1997 he founded Canada Family Action - a citizen action group with a vision to be an influence and impact Canada's social and political culture. He worked at the federal level on matters of child protection, freedoms of speech and religion, family tax concerns, and the aging population problem. His goal is to inspire and train citizens to have more voice and input in a more direct way at the federal level.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to voice their views on the topic as well as, time permitting, on such other issues as may spontaneously arise after the announced topic is covered.

Sessions may be cancelled without notice in the case of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Speakers’ Corner is presented and organized by the Zinner Law Office, assisted and sponsored by the Calgary Leadership Forum under permit from the City of Calgary.
