When I opened CalenGoo this morning (iOS 18.1.1, CalenGoo 1.5.99 (1244)), many new all-day events (birthdays and anniversaries) were added to my primary Google calendar. I then opened macOS (14.7.1) Calendar.app and saw they were added there as well. They definitely were not there before today, and they are not duplicates.

I see CalenGoo did update on my iPhone yesterday - I don't think I had opened it between when it updated and this morning. Any ideas what could be happening?

Hi,

a few other users reported the same and I have now found out that this is a new feature of Google Calendar that was announced here:

I.e. Google has now removed the separate birthdays calendar and instead put the birthdays into the main calendar. I think it would have been better to keep it separate but Google has changed it this way now.

Anyway, they have also added a field "eventType" to see which events are birthdays and which are normal events. I will try to create a new update soon that uses this field to allow you to hide the birthdays or to display them with a different color so that it looks similar as before.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

Thanks for the quick response! I really don't keep track of birthdays/anniversaries in Google so I guess it's probably safe to just delete them?

Hi,

I don't know much more about it yet. I have created a birthday event with the Google Calendar app and then deleted it with CalenGoo. That worked fine. What doesn't work is to modify the event, e.g. to make it a non-recurring event or to edit its title.

However, I don't know what happens to automatically created birthday events because I have none (despite having birthdays in my Google contacts. It seems to be an error.). Maybe you should test it first by creating a test contact with a birthday and then deleting that birthday from your calendar and checking what happens to the contact. But I think it probably won't change anything in the contact.

Kind regards

Dominique

Also when I go to https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/r, I still see a separate Birthdays calendar, where all those new entries came from - interesting...

Is there any solution to this problem for birthday's now populating calengoo? I have been using Calengoo for years. Suddenly this morning both on my iPhone and iPad all the birthdays of all my contacts with birthdays are showing up. I did not change anything since yesterday. I read this page and everything is off that I followed on this page. https://www.calengoo.com/docs/pagebirthdays/pagebirthdays.html

Please let me know what I can do. Some birthdays are showing up multiple times in one day. The birthday's are taking up all the space in my calendars. Thank you.

Hi,

I have answered your email a few minutes ago. But you are right, I forgot to post the link here. You can now find further information here:

I will try to release the update, that is mentioned on that website, in the new few days.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique
