SyncCal Auto Background Sync No Longer Working

First of all, SyncCal is amazing, good work!

I use the paid version, and well, within the last couple weeks, the app’s auto background sync (where it checks for calendar changes and syncs per the specified interval like 5 min, 15 min, etc) is no longer working for me. It only syncs when I manually trigger it. This is made things a lot more difficult for me.

For some information, I run the latest iOS software (iOS 17.6.1). Is there any chance the SyncCal app could get updated to better work with iOS’s more modern operating system? Or any tips to fix this?

I am sorry, you are right, there was something wrong with the push notifications that SyncCal uses to be woken up at the specified interval. The server sends these push notifications using Firebase and Firebase has changed their API a few weeks ago. Unfortunately I forgot to make the necessary changes so that the push notifications were not sent any more. I have fixed it now and the push notifications seem to be sent successfully again.

Please try it again now. Does it work correctly again?

Replying to this thread from September 2024 because I'm seeing the same issue again..the app’s auto background sync (where it checks for calendar changes and syncs per the specified interval like 5 min, 15 min, etc) is no longer reliably working for me. It only syncs when I manually trigger it, or will randomly auto sync occasionally but with no sort of actual repeatable interval.

The automatic trigger for SyncCal on iOS is not working again, just an FYI in case there is anything on your end that needs to be worked on to fix this.

Hello,

the push notifications seem to be correctly sent to the app. I cannot see a problem right now. Did you start SyncCal often enough so that iOS knows that you are using it? Otherwise it might stop it and not run it in the background at all.
