Dear CalenGoo,

I am trying to set up local sync between CalenGoo Desktop (Win10) and CalenGoo for Android.
I have made a "Locally Synced Account", address is https://10.2.0.2:48573/account605
Then made a new calendar, name is LCal7.
Then tried to make a first event, but the new calendar does not show up in this list of available calendars.
I also tried to connect to CalenGoo Android according to the instructions at  https://www.calengoo.com/desktop/localsync.html, but this cannot find the connection: time-out.

Help is greatly appreciated.
Martin

Dear Martin,

to which account does the new LCal7 calendar belong to in the "Calendars" pane? And is the calendar checked there so that it is visible?

If you get a time-out when trying to connect, then there might be a Firewall on your computer blocking the access. Just try to access the URL https://10.2.0.2:48573/account605 from your computer and from your phone and check what happens. Additionally this will certainly only work when your phone is connected to your Wi-Fi network and has an IP in the same IP range and network as your computer.

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

LCal7 belongs to the new, just made, "Locally synced account".  It is visible and checked.  Again, the calendar does not show when making a new or existing calendar item in it's drop-down.

The phone is on Wifi, on the same home-network. My router is on http://192.168.178.1. The phone right now is connected on a WiFi AP with address 192.168.178.4.
  • How do I check if it is in the same IP range?
When, in my browser, I go to https://10.2.0.2:48573/account605 , then the browser says:
The connection has timed out

An error occurred during a connection to 10.2.0.2:48573.

  • The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
  • If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
  • If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.
So that seems the same problem that I get when I try to connect on my smartphone via CalenGoo Android.

I do not have separate firewall or anti-virus software, only the regular Windows 10 pro safeguards.

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,

if the IP of your router is 192.168.178.1 then why does your computer have 10.2.0.2? Does your computer maybe have multiple IP addresses and CalenGoo is using the wrong one? Does it work if you use the correct IP address of your computer instead of 10.2.0.2 in the URL https://10.2.0.2:48573/account605 ?

Kind regards

Well, I guess that on Desktop, I cannot change the url in the Locally synced account, there it remains 10.2.0.2.   Or can I change that somehow?

Anyway, in Android, for making a new account, I now tried to connect to https://192.168.178.1:48573/account605. I get this message:
   Error
Could not connect to port. failed
   to connect to /192.168.178.1
   (port 48573) from /::(port 52984):
   connect failed: ECONNREFUSED
   (Connection refused)

I also tried this for   https://192.168.178.4:48573/account605 . About the same message:
   except that    "/::(port 52984): "  is now   "/::(port 41150):"

If I try to connect in my browser to https://192.168.178.1:48573/account605, what I get is :
Unable to connect

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at 192.168.178.1:48573.

  • The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
  • If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
  • If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.

Kind regards,
Martin

Hi Martin,

CalenGoo currently displays only the external IP address but it binds to all IP addresses on your computer (I will display all of them with the next update). So if your computer has multiple IP addresses, you can use any of them. The IP address 192.168.178.1 cannot be correct, because that's your router and you need to connect to your computer, not your router. So if your computer's IP address is 192.168.178.4 then the correct link would be https://192.168.178.4:48573/account605 . You can also try to open that URL from your browser on your computer and your phone. It should ask you for a username and a password. The username does not matter and the password is the password that you have set for that account in CalenGoo. When entering the correct credentials a short text should appear. And because it cannot use an official SSL certificate, you have to accept the generated one.

Can you access that URL from your computer or your phone? Depending on your DNS configuration it might take a little over 30 seconds to connect.

Kind regards

Dominique

Ah, sorry, of course, the IP of the PC itself.

OK, tried that in my browser  https://192.168.178.27:48573/account605 . That gives:
The connection has timed out

The server at 192.168.178.27 is taking too long to respond.

  • The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
  • If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
  • If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the web.
Then tried to make a connection to the local account in CalenGoo Android, using the url + password
That gives
    Error
Could connect to port but not to service. Read timed out

Kind regards,
Martin

I think the "connection has timed out" means that some firewall is blocking the access.

But what I had was a 30 second delay before receiving any data and I will try to fix that with the next update with a new internal https server. However, connection-wise it will do the same as the old one so I think you have to check if a firewall is blocking the access to CalenGoo. Maybe you have to allow CalenGoo to access your private network or something like that? 🤔

Please don't hesitate to contact me again if you have further questions!

Kind regards

Dominique

Hi,

I think I have found a problem in the local sync function. I have fixed it with the new beta version 996 now. Please install that version (by setting "Settings > Update channel" to "Beta" and then searching for updates) and then try it again. Does the local sync work now?

Kind regards

Dominique
